ABOUT THIS COURSE
It takes more than altruism to launch a career in humanitarian action. In this course, you’ll learn the realities and competencies required to work in the field, and the principles, laws and standards that govern it. You’ll examine current issues in weekly discussions and identify the major players in the international system and how they respond and collaborate. You’ll emerge with a greater sense of the future trajectory of humanitarian action and your own readiness to be part of it.
WHAT YOU\’LL LEARN
- Identify the major players in the international humanitarian system, what they do, where they work, how they work and how they work together within the system.
- Identify the major current issues and the future trajectory of the field.
- Understand the realities and competencies required to work in a humanitarian career, and in working in humanitarian crisis response.
- Assess one’s own readiness to enter into the field of humanitarian affairs and humanitarian action.
